The first Monday Night RAW following SummerSlam earlier this week was a big one, as it set the wheels in motion towards WWE's red brand's first pay-per-view after the biggest party of the summer, No Mercy.

No Mercy's main event was scheduled earlier this week on RAW, as Brock Lesnar will be putting his Universal Championship on the line against Braun Strowman after The Beast Incarnate was attacked by The Monster Among Men on the show.

Free agent John Cena also made his first RAW appearance since the brand split on Monday night, calling out Roman Reigns before they were interrupted by The Miz and Samoa Joe which set up a tag team match between him and Reigns against The Miz and Joe later on in the night.

What some fans might not have picked up on following RAW is that this Cena-Reigns segment has set the wheels in motion towards the rumored dream clash between The Leader of the Cenation and The Big Dog at a later date. However, that date could be coming sooner than people expect.

After it was widely speculated to be a match WWE was setting up for a future WrestleMania, Cena and Reigns could actually have their first singles match against one another at No Mercy next month at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, according to Cageside Seats.

If this is to be believed, not only will WWE's next pay-per-view No Mercy have an epic Universal Championship match between Lesnar and Strowman, but it will also have an unbelievable dream match between Cena and Reigns, making it an unmissable event for fans and one of the better B-pay-per-views of 2017.

If WWE wanted to, they could easily stretch out The Big Dog's feud against The Leader of the Cenation until the Royal Rumble next year, and a feud Reigns should win overall, before he likely enters his WrestleMania feud against The Beast Incarnate for the Universal title.

Reigns and Cena could easily exchange wins across this feud throughout the rest of 2017 before finally having a big payoff at the Royal Rumble in 2018 and then having them both go their separate ways for their respective WrestleMania 34 feuds.

The time between SummerSlam and the Royal Rumble is usually a down time for WWE, but some of the feuds which they have lined up on RAW could keep fans tuned in despite the draw of the new NFL and NBA seasons and new seasons of top TV shows.
