Jon Jones’ world came crashing down earlier this week when news broke that the UFC light heavyweight champion was flagged for a potential doping violation by USADA.

It stemmed from his test sample which was collected after the weigh-ins on July 28, testing positive for an anabolic steroid and has since been placed on a provisional suspension because of this ahead of a full adjudication process.

DOPING VIOLATION

Bones made his highly anticipated return to the Octagon last month to knock out bitter rival Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 to claim the light heavyweight crown he never lost.

After a show of respect to DC, Jones called out Brock Lesnar for a super fight but UFC president Dana White revealed that as news of the violation broke, they were working towards a super fight against heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic instead.

White also isn’t confident about Jones’ B sample, as his fans fear that he could be suspended for years without being able to compete.

Despite that, current welterweight champion Tyron Woodley doesn’t think Jones’ mixed martial arts career will be over even if he does sit out for four years.

TOO GOOD

According to The Chosen One, Jones is three or four years ahead of everyone else and could reclaim the light heavyweight championship if he’s suspended – that’s how good he is.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, he said: “Jon Jones is the only fighter on the roster that it wouldn’t be over for.

“He’s three or four years ahead of the curb right now for the [205-pound] division. After Daniel Cormier, tell me one fighter that’s going to compete with Jon Jones.

“There’s not one. [Jimi] Manuwa’s not gonna compete with him, the guy that just knocked out Manuwa [Volkan Oezdemir’s] not gonna compete with him.

“Jon Jones is just on a completely different level.

“Daniel Cormier had the best chance to give him a fight, he was giving him a fight and got kicked in the head.

"So, with that said, I think that he could sit down for four years, as long as he trains, as long as his mind stays sharp, he could come back, he could be competitive, he could regain his belt.”

While we’re getting ahead of ourselves with talk of suspensions and him getting stripped of the gold, it’s clear that Jones is a unique talent.

Woodley also doubted that Jones took any supplements considering the type of fighter he was going up against, and admitted that he did feel sorry for Cormier as he too has had to go through this saga alongside Jones.
