Town without Bruce

Alex Bruce has been ruled out of Ipswich's crunch game against Peterborough at Portman Road with a groin injury.

The Irishman may be joined on the sidelines by Lee Martin as the talented midfielder missed the goalless draw against Bristol City with a heel injury and is still rated as doubtful.

Goalkeeper Richard Wright and Luciano Civelli are long-term absentees, both damaging cruciate ligaments.

The game will come too soon for David Norris, however, with the midfielder nearing a return to full fitness after a knee ligament injury.

Ipswich will be looking to extend their unbeaten record to nine but will need their front-line to start working better - during the previous eight games they have only found the back of the net seven times.

Peterborough boss Mark Cooper will play the same central defensive pairing for the first time in four games.

Gabriel Zakuani is not expected to return for the crunch relegation battle while Charlie Lee is also a doubt.

It means Ryan Bennett will remain at right-back with Craig Morgan and former Kettering player Exodus Geohaghon continuing in the centre.

The Posh do have some good news though as striker Shaun Batt will return after serving a one-match suspension on Saturday.

A win for Posh could move them to within a point of Ipswich but they have taken just a solitary point from their last six away games, conceding 15 goals in the process.
