Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has revealed Ben Burgess is to undergo scans to find the extent of his knee injury.

The striker was substituted in only the third minute of the 2-1 defeat against Barnsley on Saturday after outstretching when trying to head the ball out of play. Burgess has appeared 10 times and scored four goals during the first-half of the campaign in which the Seasiders have moved to the fringes of the Championship play-off places.

"Ben needs a scan as he still can't put his foot on the floor," Holloway told the club website.

"It doesn't look good from where we are at the moment but he's got a lot to put up with with his knees."

"Hopefully it won't be too long as he's a very important player for us."
