Even without Philippe Coutinho currently at Jurgen Klopp's disposal, Liverpool look like they possess one of the most potent attacks in the Premier League this season.Liverpool have found the back of the net an impressive 14 times from their first five matches in all competitions so far this term. They arguably put in their best performance of the campaign on Sunday to thrash Arsenal 4-0 at home and there have been plenty signs to suggest the attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah compliment each other perfectly.Summer signing Salah, in particular, has impressed with how quickly he has adapted to life at Anfield and Klopp's fast-paced style of play. However, despite scoring three goals and assisting two more since his record move from Roma, it would appear he hasn't completely won everyone over.Ray Wilkins risked angering many of Salah's new supporters by comparing him to the currently unsettled Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian is yet to feature for Klopp's side this season and there are reports he could still join Barcelona before the transfer window shuts later this week. And Wilkins feels that although Liverpool have made a strong start to the new campaign, they are weaker than they were last season as a result of Coutinho's absence."I think Liverpool are less than they were last year, purely and simply because Coutinho isn't playing," Wilkins told Alan Brazil's Breakfast Show on talkSPORT."Salah is a very good player, but he's a poor man’s Coutinho, without being disrespectful to him. Coutinho is on a different level. Mane is the man."A lot of money has been spoken about, that Barcelona are going to pay whatever for Coutinho, but Mane is the guy. He's the one who rips teams to pieces."

As someone who spent much of his playing career at Chelsea and Man United, Wilkins will never be a popular figure at Anfield but he has done his reputation no favours with these latest comments.

It was the 'poor man's Coutinho' line in particular which was always likely to trigger a reaction - especially when you consider Coutinho and Salah are completely different in how they play the game.

So naturally, Liverpool supporters vented much of their anger towards Wilkins on Twitter. Here are the best tweets:
