Ipswich manager Roy Keane expects goalkeeper Brian Murphy to fight for the number one shirt at Portman Road when he completes his move next month.

The 26-year-old is training with Ipswich this week ahead of signing an 18-month contract to join from Irish side Bohemians and is expected to replace the injured Richard Wright.

Keane told the club's official website: "We are not signing a kid here. He is an experienced keeper and he knows he is coming here to try and be the number one."

Keane added: "He will be with us this week and that will allow him to have a mini pre-season and get to know the players and the club.

"He will be able to take part in training and get a feel for the place before he is available in January."
