Monday's episode of RAW began with the chance of an Intercontinental Championship match was up for grabs for 15 lucky RAW superstars.

The show started with the Champion the Miz in the ring, but the A-Lister would only speak one word before he was interrupted by RAW General Manager Kurt Angle.

Start of something new?

Angle announced a 15 man over the top rope battle royal in which the winner would receive an Intercontinental Championship match next week on RAW.

Housing talent like Finn Balor, Jason Jordan, Elias and the Big Show, the Miz was at ringside to take the action.

Both members of the Miztourage, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel were involved in the match and were also involved in the conclusion of the battle royal.

While Jordan and Balor were the obvious favourites, it was a surprise name who would be the last man left in the ring.

Jordan would eliminate the Miztourage before he was attacked by Elias - but the musician would see the tables turned and Kurt Angle's son would eliminate Elias.

He would have no time to recover though as Jordan was then eliminated by Jeff hardy who would earn a title match against the Miz.

Hardy has been rumoured to be receiving a push as a singles superstar since his return to the company alongside his brother Matt at WrestleMania earlier this year.

Monday night looks to have started the push and will instantly lead to a title opportunity in which the Miz will face the unique style of a former Intercontinental Champion.

A continuing feud

Aside from Hardy actually winning the battle royal, the other big talking point surrounded the elimination of Finn Balor.

Balor had taken total control of the numerous superstars in the ring at the time of his elimination and just as every other competitor was off their feet, Bray Wyatt's ominous cut sound rang around the arena.

The Eater of Worlds appeared behind the leader of the Balor Club and tossed him over the top rope to end his hopes of an Intercontinental Championship match.

Then, just as swiftly as he appeared, Wyatt was gone from the ring in the blink of an eye to send the very clear message that his feud with Balor didn't end at Summer Slam.
