The Smackdown Live roster has been given a major boost as the recent injury to Xavier Woods isn't expected to keep him away for too long - or at all.

It was confirmed that Woods had suffered a knee injury late on Monday night that left fans worried about the immediate future of the New Day.

Big news for Smackdown

The last time a member of the dynamic group was injured was Kofi Kingston shortly after WrestleMania and it resulted in the faction being off of WWE TV for an extended spell.

That doesn't look to be the case with Woods however who discussed his injury on the most recent episode of his gaming YouTube channel upupdowndown.

With the Irish Lass Kicker Becky Lynch as his guest, Woods confirmed that he has suffered an MCL sprain, but he didn't confirm the grade of the injury.

A grade 1 MCL sprain can often take a week to heal, while a grade 2 sprain can take anywhere from two to four weeks to heal.

Likely meaning that Woods will be out of action for anywhere up to a month, Tuesday's episode of Smackdown left fans wondering if he would appear.

Woods did appear on the episode as the New Day were in action against the Usos in a match where the victor would be allowed to choose the stipulation for their title rematch.

Big E and Kofi Kingston were the ones in action on Smackdown though as Woods appeared with a knee brace on and a sign around his neck which read "It's sore."

Woods was live streaming the episode from backstage at Tuesday's episode of Smackdown Live in which he and Lynch discussed his injury.

Lynch would reveal that she has previously suffered a similar injury and was even able to continue wrestling through it.

Lynch claimed that it shouldn't take more than a month to heal which is very positive news for Smackdown who likely couldn't afford to lose the New Day.

The New Day are set to challenge the Usos for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships following their loss of the belts at Summer Slam.

Tuesday's episode saw the Usos earn the right to choose the stipulation for their title match - although there was no mention of what that match may take place.

The Usos didn't disclose what stipulation they will choose for the match but with no date revealed for the match, they certainly have time to think.
