The Minnesota Timberwolves will be one of the teams to watch next season after making a flurry of moves this summer.

The franchise has made a number of smart acquisitions, with the arrival of Jimmy Butler from the Chicago Bulls being the most eye-catching.

They may have given up the athletic Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and a lottery pick to secure his services, but it was certainly worth it to acquire an All-Star player.

Along with Butler, the T-Wolves also made some shrewd moves in free agency by bringing in Jeff Teague, Taj Gibson and Jamal Crawford.

Adding these experienced players to the talented young duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins will now give Minnesota a brilliant opportunity to end the league's longest playoff drought.

The team has failed to make it to the postseason in 13 straight years but Towns believes not only will that come to an end, but they will also make a deep playoff run to boot.

"I expect us to be in the playoffs and I expect us to compete in the playoffs and have Minnesota rocking not just for one round, but for multiple rounds," Towns said in an interview with SLAM.

"We have a lot of faith in ourselves that this is something that we can do and we have a coaching staff behind us and great teammates. I think we have something truly special here."

The Timberwolves failed to match expectations last year after Tom Thibodeau took over as head coach but they now have a roster capable of challenging in the Western Conference.

KAT averaged an impressive 25.1 points and 12.3 rebounds per game in just his sophomore campaign in the league and he could be part of a big three alongside Butler and Wiggins if they can mesh on the floor.

In the recent win totals predicted by the Las Vegas odds for the upcoming season, Minnesota has been given a win total of 48.5, which is a significant jump from the 31 wins they managed last year.

Making it into the playoffs in the west is difficult enough, but if the Wolves were to make a deep run, they would need Towns and Wiggins to take their game to the next level and hope that Butler continues to produce at an All-Star rate.

There's no doubt that Thibodeau has the tools at his disposal, but with added pressure on him and the team to deliver to an expectant Minneapolis fan base, only time will tell if they succeed or fail.
