Despite Liverpool insisting that Philippe Coutinho isn’t for sale this summer, Barcelona are refusing to take no for an answer.

The Catalan club are clearly receiving encouragement from the Brazilian and are prepared to wait until the final few hours to secure a deal for the midfielder.

In truth, we haven’t heard too much about Barca’s pursuit of Coutinho on transfer deadline day. After all, the 25-year-old is in Brazil preparing for their crucial World Cup qualifier against Ecuador.

However, that hasn’t stopped some reports from claiming that Coutinho to Barcelona is already a done deal.

Some outlets in England claimed that Liverpool and Barca have agreed a £138 million deal for Coutinho and he will be announced at 7pm tonight.

Of course, with it being transfer deadline day, it’s always hard to know what to believe.

However, it appears that those reports are false.

That’s because both Liverpool and Barcelona have come out to react to it.

According to Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce, Liverpool’s stance is "unchanged" and they haven’t given in.

As for Barcelona, Guillem Balague revealed that they denied any agreement with Liverpool and Coutinho.

Furthermore, the journalist goes on to confirm that Coutinho and his entourage have finally released that he will be staying at Liverpool this summer.

Of course, Liverpool fans can’t relax at 11pm. That’s because the Spanish transfer window doesn’t close until tomorrow night meaning they face a further 24 hours of anxious waiting to see if Coutinho leaves their club.

But as the time ticks by, it seems Liverpool will hold firm and resist Barcelona’s continued efforts to sign Coutinho.
