It appears as though Mike (Bennett) and Maria Kanellis' run in WWE isn't going as planned.

Bennett has been competing in the professional wrestling world since 2002 when he began competing on the independent circuit. He has worked for various promotions throughout his career such as New England Championship Wrestling, Top Rope Promotions, Ring Of Honor (ROH), New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), and Global Force Wrestling (GFW) (formerly known as TNA and Impact Wrestling). He and his wife, former WWE Diva Maria, debuted in WWE together this past June with their 'power of love' gimmick that fans seemed to enjoy.

After various promos between the pair, Bennett's in-ring career in WWE kicked off when he began to feud with former NXT Champion Sami Zayn. This past week on SmackDown Live he was also defeated by the recently dethroned NXT Champion Bobby Roode in his second week on the main roster.

Despite being on SmackDown this past week, Mike and Maria have been noticeably absent from WWE TV. Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer shared some insight on the matter during a recent mailbag segment on his show. He was asked about the pair's whereabouts and if there was any resentment from their peers due to the fact that they skipped a run in NXT.

Meltzer revealed that WWE has given up on the couple, however, he isn't sure exactly as to why. When his partner, Bryan Alvarez, asked "Where is the guy?", Meltzer responded, "I don't know...I don't know, it appears that they have have gave up on them."

Mike and Maria weren't the only ones singled out, however, as Meltzer also stated that there are a lot of Superstars in the SmackDown Live locker room that have been given up on Luke Harper, Eric Rowan; hopefully they'll do something with those guys."

Bennett was quite the talent during his days on the independent circuit as well as his time with GFW. He has potential to be a great singles competitor in the WWE if given the chance, however, what Meltzer failed to mention is that he is currently fighting a prescription drug addiction which the WWE seems to be supporting him through.

When all is said and done, perhaps Meltzer will have a completely different outlook on Bennet and his future with the company.
