Today's WWE roster is arguably the best roster the company has had since the Attitude Era, or possibly the best roster the company has had throughout its history.
There is so much talent on the roster today that you could say there are five or six superstars you could call the best superstar in the WWE today. However, just because you're talented, doesn't mean you're going to get the desired reaction.
Roman Reigns is a prime example of that. Many fans know that he is WWE's handpicked successor to John Cena as the face of the company, but every single time he enters an arena for a segment or a match, the reception he receives is a chorus of boos.

During an interview with SI, Chris Jericho discussed whether or not the kind of reaction a wrestler gets really matters, and he used The Big Dog as an example. He believes it doesn't matter because they still bring people into arenas to watch the show.
For that reason, Y2J sounded off by saying this might make Reigns the best WWE superstar in the company today.
He said: "It doesn't. Obviously there comes a point where you want to steer people in the right direction. For whatever reason it's the cool thing to boo Roman Reigns, just as it was the cool thing to boo John Cena, just as it was the cool thing to boo The Rock. But guess what? Those guys are so good that if you really are a wrestling fan... and Roman Reigns might be the best wrestler in the company.
"And I'm telling you that because if people are interested in what you're doing whether they're booing or whether they're cheering, they're still going to pay money to see you."
It's hard to argue against Jericho's point that Reigns is the best superstar in the WWE today he can draw those fans in, and one way or another, this leads to a lot of money for the company. So long as they're in the arena, it doesn't matter if they cheer for you or not.
This comes just after The Big Dog did an interview saying he’s neither a babyface or heel, but in fact the first true 'gray area guy' in the WWE, and it seems that most people within the company will agree with this considering how much they're still pushing him despite the reactions he receives on a weekly basis.
