Striker Paul Benson netted twice as Dagenham ended a run of three home games without a win, beating fellow promotion contenders Bury 3-1.

The home side's leading scorer, who had gone seven league games without a goal, struck after 18 minutes, firing into the bottom corner after poor Shakers defending.

On-loan Blackpool forward Daniel Nardiello equalised for Bury on the stroke of half time, heading home from a Danny Racchi corner, his fourth in six games for the Gigg Lane club.

The game caught fire further after the break as Nardiello hit the bar from close range, while Andy Morrell lifted the ball over with just Tony Roberts to beat.

For the Daggers, the introduction of Josh Scott was vital as Benson slid his effort against the post and also shot into the side-netting.

John Still's side were back in front after 78 minutes when, after Peter Gain sent the ball over from the left and Scott's shot was saved by Wayne Brown, Benson turned in the rebound.

Ryan Lowe almost snatched a point for Bury, but scuffed his opportunity wide, while Ben Futcher also put a header over.

The home made sure of the points in injury time as on-loan Chelsea full back Nana Ofori-Twumasi combined with Benson before drilling low past Wayne Brown.
