Charly Musonda is a name you can expect to hear plenty more of over the coming months and years.
The 20-year-old is one of the most talented young players at Chelsea and made headlines earlier this summer after he was handed Eden Hazard’s old No. 17 squad number.
Musonda, a Belgium Under-21 international, impressed while on loan at Real Betis, particularly during the second half of the 2015-16 season, and Antonio Conte clearly believes the youngster has what it takes to become a first-teamer at Stamford Bridge.
Conte handed Musonda the opportunity to impress in pre-season and he didn’t look out of place alongside his high-profile teammates.
Quick, skillful and direct, the attacking midfielder is also full of self-confidence and believes he has what it takes to become a superstar.
“I was a late starter in my career,” he told reporters last year, per the Daily Mail. “For example Eden Hazard was already in the first team when he was 16 and I was nowhere near that.
“But look, every phenomenon is different. So I'm going to create my own legend. I only really properly started at 19 and I'm sure I will have a very great career.
“I feel I have learned a lot at Chelsea and I am ready for any league in the world. I have never regretted signing for Chelsea.
“People ask me whether I should have done more in my career because I am not a teenager now. But with my style, the way I've grown and the level at which I wanted to break through, I knew that I would develop later than most.”
