Mohamed Salah is already looking like a bargain for Liverpool.Jurgen Klopp spent a club record £36.9 million on the winger but he has already started repaying that with three goals in five appearances. In fact, a football study conducted by CIES have named the Egyptian as the biggest bargain of the summer transfer window. And Liverpool have rewarded the 25-year-old for his fine performances by handing him the club’s Player of the Month for August.Salah beat the likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino to the award after making the perfect start to life on Merseyside.

And while Liverpool fans were bombarding him with congratulatory tweets, his former club did likewise.

AS Roma praised Salah for winning the accolade - and also, rather hilariously, suggested that he will win it for the next four months.

Roma congratulates Salah

Take a look:

They clearly rate their former player extremely highly but surely they’re underestimating the other Liverpool players by saying they have no chance of winning the award.

Salah's transformation

Although Salah has only been a Liverpool player for a matter of months, his manager believes he’s a very different player from the one that left Rome in the summer.

Salah often played as a secondary striker for the Italian giants but is being deployed as a wide man in a front-three at Anfield - and Klopp is well aware of the adjustments he has had to make to his game.

“He has defended 500 per cent more already than he did in the whole of last season,” Klopp said last week about Salah.

“You can see Mo is on the way there.

“[He is] not that used to it, not using the body that much. He’s a different player to Sadio: same speed, but a different player. He played a completely different position last season. He is a winger – he can play this.”

While Klopp will be delighted with the start Salah has made, he’ll be hoping some of his other players step up to the plate and can claim the Player of the Month award before 2018.
