On-loan Grimsby defender Olly Lancashire has extended his stay at Blundell Park by a third month.

The Southampton centre-back's deal was set to expire next week but he will now remain with the League Two club until the end of January.

Town boss Neil Woods said: "Olly has agreed to stay for another month and that's fantastic news for us. I'm very pleased because he has proved a great addition for us."

He added: "We are thankful to Southampton as it is a big boost to us ahead of what is always a busy time over Christmas with three games in eight days after this weekend's match with Morecambe."

Lancashire follows in the footsteps of Plymouth defender Damien McCrory and Barnsley midfielder Michael Coulson in extending his loan spell into January.
