Assistant manager Dave Flitcroft insists Rochdale must maintain their momentum in their promotion charge after the 4-1 win over Morecambe.

Chris O'Grady, Chris Dagnall and Will Atkinson's brace secured three more points for the League Two leaders at Spotland. But Flitcroft has reiterated Dale's need for focus as they continue their quest for promotion to League One.

"It was always going to be a wrestle for us, but when we saw they had several key players out I think it gave our lads a bit of a lift," he said.

Flitcroft added: "After the first five minutes when they had a bit of dominant play in our box, we never felt in trouble at any point in the game, we dominated and controlled the chances and possession count.

"The players know the standard and levels they have to reach and aspire to and there were one or two below par performances at Crewe on Boxing Day."
