Player's card on FIFA 18 given major improvement following fan outcry

Real Madrid CF v VfL Wolfsburg - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final: Second Leg

Fans of the FIFA game series have been reacting to the player ratings reveals on social media over the past month.

FIFA 18 is set to be released on September 29 and is expected to smash Pro Evolution Soccer in sales once again.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the cover star and his in-game rating of 94 places him above Leo Messi on 93 and Neymar on 92.

Real Madrid's Portuguese forward is expected to claim his fifth Ballon d'Or in January following more Champions League success last season.

Messi, 30, has won five Ballon d'Or awards and his early season form in La Liga suggest he's far from finished.

The original Ronaldo won two Ballon d'Or's, in 1997 and 2002.

Ronaldo's 4-star skill moves

Retired Brazilian striker Ronaldo, AKA 'El Fenomeno', is widely recognised as one of the greatest goalscorers in football history.

The legendary former Inter Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid superstar famously invented the 'elastico' skill.

Fans were upset when Ronaldo's FIFA 18 card was released earlier in September after it emerged that he would only have four-star skill moves.

It meant the World Cup winner would be unable to do his trademark 'elastico' skill in the game.

EA Sports have responded to fan disapproval on social media and tweeted a major change made to Ronaldo's Icon card late on Wednesday night.

They upgraded his skill moves and his weak foot ratings to 5-star.

Now 41, Ronaldo scored 414 goals in 616 career games, but his dazzling feet and trickery is what fans tend to remember him for the most.

Ronaldo and Ricardo Carvalho

He weighed in on the Messi v Ronaldo debate earlier this year.

“Both of them are fantastic," said the Brazilian legend. "I love Messi with the ball at his feet, he scores goals and does all the rest too. But Cristiano’s numbers can’t be ignored. It’s a cruel comparison. Both of them deserve respect.”

Messi only has four-star skill moves on FIFA 18 whilst his rival at Real Madrid was unsurprisingly given the maximum.
