Carlisle boss Greg Abbott has completed the permanent signing of Tom Taiwo for an undisclosed fee from Chelsea.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who made 28 appearances and scored one goal during his loan spell at Brunton Park this season, has now signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the League One club.

Abbott told the club's official website: "Tom is exactly the type of player that we want at this club. We have seen from the games he has played that he is committed and always gives 100%, and he has thoroughly enjoyed his time with us."

Abbott added: "We are now looking forward to working with him and watching him improve even further, because we think he has a heck of a lot still to give."

Taiwo added: "I know I have to keep working hard, and signing a permanent deal doesn't change that, but that's exactly what I intend to do."
