The fallout from Enzo Amore’s big win continues to be felt.

As seen at Sunday’s WWE No Mercy pay-per-view event in Los Angeles, CA at the Staples Center on the WWE Network, Enzo Amore defeated Neville to win the Cruiserweight Title. This match was sandwiched between the heated contest between John Cena and Roman Reigns as well the main event that saw Brock Lesnar retain the Universal Title over Braun Strowman. It was a tough match placement.

There wasn’t a ton of heat going into the title match as Amore was recently moved to the Cruiserweight division and placed on 205 Live on Tuesday nights on the WWE Network.

205 Live premiered on November 29, 2016, and airs following SmackDown Live. The Raw brand was originally established as the exclusive home of the division during the brand extension last year. However, following the premiere of 205 Live, the cruiserweight stars appear on both Raw and 205 Live as well as making appearances on NXT.

The idea for Amore on the Cruiserweight show would be in order to help out the division as it lacks star power. He can talk. There’s no doubt about that, but his in-ring skills might need to be sharpened up. He would help the division as he is great on the microphone and sells merchandise. Well, WWE ended up pulling the trigger on the idea.

There were some concerns that his merchandise may take a hit with sales but that may not be the case due to him making occasional appearances on Raw. WWE officials are hoping that his appearances on 205 Live will help viewership of the struggling brand on the WWE Network.

It should be noted that Amore had no prior wrestling experience before WWE signed him in August of 2012. If you recall, the way Amore got the title match was a result of a match that took place on September 5th on 205 Live.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE appears to be evolving 205 Live from a wrestling based show into more of one that focuses on Amore. The reason for this is due to possibly leading to an increase in viewership, which has been very disappointing for months now. As seen on TV, WWE is booking Amore as both a heel and face.
