The clash between Chelsea and Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening was supposed to be a clash of two title heavyweights going head-to-head.What followed, though, was a very one-sided affair as Pep Guardiola’s side dominated throughout with the 1-0 scoreline flattering the home side. The visitors had 62% possession and 17 shots but had to wait until Kevin de Bruyne’s fantastic strike in the 67th minute to take the lead. While City were impressive, Antonio Conte will be very disappointed with the performance of his players. They certainly weren’t helped with Alvaro Morata limping off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury but the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian failed to create any significant chances. But there was one Chelsea player that can hold his head high - Andreas Christensen. The 21-year-old was brought into the starting line-up to cover the suspended David Luiz and looked extremely comfortable. It wasn’t only his defending but the way the Dane brought the ball out from the back. It’s the sort of style that Guardiola enjoys with the Spanish boss spending almost £50 million on John Stones - a defender who is also impressive on the ball. And plenty of people noticed what happened between Guardiola and Christensen after the match on Saturday evening. The City boss made his way over to the youngster and was seen deep in conversation with him. What was he saying?

Chelsea fans react

He might have just been congratulating Christensen on his terrific performance but Chelsea fans weren’t happy. Just check out their reaction on Twitter:

After spending the previous two seasons on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, Christensen now looks to be an important member of this Chelsea squad.

With John Terry leaving for Aston Villa in the summer and Gary Cahill now 31, Christensen could be the future of Chelsea’s defence alongside Antonio Rüdiger and César Azpilicueta.

Guardiola certainly seems to be a big fan.
