The result was never in doubt, as Brock Lesnar retained his Universal Championship at No Mercy against Braun Strowman.

The Monster Among Men has done a fantastic job of getting into shape and getting into world title contention after being split from The Wyatt Family, and if the opponent didn't happen to be The Beast Incarnate, he probably would have left as the new champion.

NO MERCY

There's already been speculation that should Lesnar sign a new deal with the WWE after WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, a feud with Strowman is one WWE officials want to revisit, as the current feud was relatively short.

The plan is still to have Roman Reigns battle Lesnar once again at WrestleMania, so the result at No Mercy was never in question, and there's one little detail about the finish that irked WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin.

It's very rare that Lesnar is on the back foot in a match, with WWE doing a good job of keeping Strowman in the match as a genuine threat to Lesnar's hopes of winning, plus, when you've arrived in Suplex City, it's difficult to get back into the match.

A man of Strowman's size should be put away with great difficulty, but as we saw, it took Lesnar one F5 to dispose of Strowman, and The Texas Rattlesnake told 107.7 The Bone's Baby Huey and Bimbo Jimbo show that it should have taken multiple F5's to put him away instead.

F5

An excerpt via Wrestle Zone read: "In hearing that, I was surprised in that finish as well.

"Both guys I consider friends, but they have built Braun to be The Monster Among Men, and to me, maybe you got to have something, a couple of F5's or something to put a chink in the armour before the F5 to keep Braun Strowman, The Monster Among Men, down for a three count.

"I have not seen the match, but from what you guys are telling me, I would probably tend to agree."

Based on the speculation that's been circulating online, it doesn't seem like Strowman's hopes of ever becoming a world champion have been permanently dented, but it's clear that the finish could have been booked slightly better.

While Lesnar's matches are now usually much shorter, multiple F5's by Lesnar would have made Strowman looked much stronger.
