If WrestleMania were to ever be main evented by a women's match, it would have to involve Ronda Rousey.
Rumors have been running rampant as of late that Rousey could be on the verge of beginning a professional wrestling career after what seems to be the end of her mixed martial arts (MMA) career. Rousey has suffered the first back-to-back losses of her MMA career and has not been very vocal as to whether or not she plans to fight again.
While the main feeling around the MMA community is that she will most likely never fight inside the Octagon again, Rousey has been involved with WWE as of late to further speculation of a possible professional wrestling career.
One rumor has Rousey training with former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Brian Kendrick at his wrestling school in California, and her recent encounter with The Four Horsewomen at the Mae Young Classic seem to be setting up a match-up for "The Rowdy One" very soon.
Last week a report suggested that two matches are being considered for Rousey if she joins WWE - one vs. Stephanie McMahon and another vs. Charlotte Flair.
Flair recently did an interview with ESPN to talk about the possibility of facing Rousey, and claimed she believes that herself and the ex-UFC champ could actually main event WrestleMania 34 in April (quotes via Wrestling Inc.):
"I hope that's the main event of WrestleMania. That's my dream. I hope we can make it happen. She really opened the doors for a lot of women. Having that opportunity would be huge. I don't know what her goals are, but it's just cool that she wants to be a part of our world.
"I thank Ronda for opening the door for us. If Ronda had never been given that main event spot as a female and doing what she did with it, I don't know if we would have ever been given that chance.
"Yeah, we were killing it at NXT, but I don't know if the main roster audience and the business side would have thought the women could carry the main storyline and main event a pay-per-view and we did and I think that's because they saw how popular Ronda was and if you give us a storyline, we can deliver and we did deliver, so I want to thank her."
What are your thoughts on Charlotte Flair saying she thinks a match between herself and Ronda Rousey could main event WrestleMania? Is that a match that's worthy of main eventing "The Show Of Shows?" Or is it more of a co-main event slot? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
