It has been a thrilling start to the Premier League season with the table being headed by the two Manchester clubs following seven rounds of fixtures.

The domestic game will now be put on hold for the second international break of the season as a number of top countries still have to play for their place at the 2018 World Cup.

When the Premier League resumes on October 14, viewers will be treated to Liverpool v Manchester United, with Jurgen Klopp's side desperate to claim three much-needed points.

Jose Mourinho's men have been imperious so far, only dropping points on one occasion, the same record as their noisy neighbours.

Pep Guardiola's side have been the most eye-catching outfit so far, claiming an impressive victory at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening and also previously demolishing Liverpool 5-0 at the Etihad.

So, when Sky Sports posted their team of the season so far based on statistics, it was no surprise that three City men made the cut.

MANCHESTER DOMINATES

Kevin de Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and - more surprisingly - hot-headed defender Nicolas Otamendi are included, as well as three players from United.

David de Gea, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the league's top goal scorer Romelu Lukaku are all included, as are Tottenham pair Harry Kane and Ben Davies.

Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta is the last name featured that you would expect, as the other two will certainly spring a surprise.

THE TWO BIG SURPRISES

Watford's summer signing Richarlison sits alongside the likes of De Bruyne, while at the heart of defence, Huddersfield's Christopher Schindler lines up next to Otamendi, despite conceding four at home to Spurs.

THE FULL TEAM

Not a bad team but and it is likely that some of the names already in there will be seen in the PFA Team of the Year come the end of the season - barring any serious injuries.

However, the likes of N'Golo Kante, Alexis Sanchez, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Sadio Mane could have something to say about that team as well.

Spoilt for riches in the Premier League.
