The Los Angeles Lakers had only just received their new Nike jerseys this preseason, but one player already is on his second uniform. When the Lakers hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves in their preseason debut on Saturday night, fans were excited to see No. 2 overall pick Lonzo Ball and the young Lakers in action. However, they were treated to a bonus funny moment during the game, when guard Tyler Ennis had a jersey-related mishap. As you can see in the video below, when Ennis defended an Aaron Brooks shot, Brooks grabbed onto the back of Ennis's jersey as he was trying to run out for a fast-break opportunity. That led to the new jersey ripping, leaving Ennis with a big flap of fabric hanging off his back:

Here's a look at the carnage after the fact, when Ennis had no choice but to make a wardrobe change:

At least Ennis made the most of the situation, tossing his torn jersey to a fan to make that fan's day before heading off to find a replacement uniform.

The Lakers went on to lose the preseason opener 108-99, but Ennis had a nice performance, finishing with six points and an impressive eight assists in only 12 minutes of court time.

Ball struggled in his first preseason action, finishing the game with only five points (but adding eight assists and seven rebounds) in 36 minutes of playing time. Still, he told Lakers.com that Saturday night's game was a special experience for him:

“It felt great, especially when they called my name and the fans were cheering,” Ball said. “That’s what you dream about as a kid.”

Coach Luke Walton said he's not concerned about Ball's lack of scoring on Saturday night, because Ball made so many other plays on the court and helped set teammates up to succeed:

“Lonzo is so gifted as far as he always makes everyone on the court a threat,” Walton said. “He’s so unselfish that sometimes he has good shots for himself and he tries to get someone else a shot.”

Forward Kyle Kuzma had the best performance of the night, scoring 19 points off the bench and grabbing five rebounds in 26 minutes of action.

As the young Lakers continue to develop, Ball and other top players will eventually find their groove. However, seeing guys like Ennis and Kuzma turn in solid performances is a good sign for a team that feels like it can improve from last year's disappointing record.

As long as Ennis can keep his jersey on, he should continue to earn more playing time for the young Lakers.
