Throughout the summer transfer window, the futures of Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil were certainly up in the air. They have both entered the final year of their current deal with the Gunners and it looks highly unlikely they will extend due to their ridiculous wage demands. It has been reported that both have rejected deals around the £275,000-a-week mark, a figure that already shatters the club's current wage structure.Due to this, a number of Europe's elite have been linked with them even after the window has shut.European clubs can negotiate with the pair in January and they can even sign a pre-contract.Sanchez will likely end up at Manchester City or big spenders Paris Saint-Germain, while Ozil's most likely destination is Manchester United to link up with Jose Mourinho once again. If the German international does swap allegiances, it will come as a bitter blow to Gunners fans, particularly after they lost Robin van Persie in a similar manner back in 2012.Arsene Wenger's side may even consider offloading him in January and the French manager appears to have already lost faith in him. However, despite the sticky situation, one thing has left Gunners fans feeling pretty positive as they feel they have something already at the club to counteract Ozil's exit.

ARSENAL FANS' REASON

If the former Real Madrid man does abandon ship, the supporters believe it will free up a space in the team for Jack Wilshere.

The cult icon at the club has slowly been getting back to form in an Arsenal shirt and the fans would love nothing more than the 25-year-old to be given a prominent role in the first team.

The reaction on Twitter was brilliant.

TWEETS

So, there you have it, the exit of Ozil could be made a lot less painless with Wilshere put back into the starting XI, provided his body can withstand a substantial level of football anymore.

Arsenal should also have Santi Cazorla returning in early 2018 and if the Spanish magician can get back anywhere near his best, the creative void left by Ozil would pretty much be filled.
