Arsene Wenger will have to move quickly if he wants to land Spanish starlet Sergio Canales.

The Arsenal boss is a known admirer of the talented 18-year-old, who has been in wonderful form so far this season for Racing Santander.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea are leading the pack in the race to sign Canales, but both Arsenal and Manchester City are known admirers of the La Liga youngster.

Canales has become one of the top talents in La Liga this campaign, and proved his worth with a weekend brace against Sevilla. He currently has four goals and assist in his last three appearances.

The attacking midfielder has a complex contract that, although technically could come to an end this summer, is expected to be extended by a year.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are also thought to be interested in the player, but it's Premier League clubs who are queing up to take the player from his homeland.

Currently settled at El Sardinero, the players agent (his father) wants him to stay in the country. Santander have also strenuously denied reports of a possible move, and a massive bid will be needed to persuade the club otherwise.
