Ahead of England's World Cup qualifier with Slovenia on Thursday, much of the talk has been about who will succeed Wayne Rooney as captain.
Four names are being tipped for the armband: Harry Kane, Jordan Henderson, Gary Cahill and goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Kane is favourite to be named captain as it stands given he's one of the only players guaranteed to start every game for the Three Lions.
However, according to Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson, Kane being given captaincy could hinder his goalscoring form.
"I'd like to see him scoring goals and doing what he does best as a centre forward," said the former England boss.
"It could be that the captaincy could weigh on him and in some way impact upon that. That will be for Gareth (Southgate) to decide, he'll have to look at those things."
Hodgson added that while being captain could be a burden for Kane, it's looking increasingly likely that Southgate will pick him for the role.
So what about Southgate's other options for captaincy? Starting with Henderson, the Liverpool skipper is a natural leader but doesn't always start for England.
As for Chelsea's Cahill, the 31-year-old wears his heart on his sleeve but, like Henderson, faces a lot of competition for players at centre-back.
And then there's Hart, who has endured a tough start to the new Premier League season with West Ham but remains England's first-choice goalkeeper.
There's an argument to be made that Hart is the best fit for captaincy, but with Jack Butland breathing down his neck, he too is at risk of losing his place.
Much will depend on his form for West Ham, not to mention cutting out the simple mistakes he has become renowned for over the past couple of years.
There was nothing he could do about Raheem Sterling's screamer in England training today, though.
In the video below, during a shooting drill, Sterling rifles a stunning shot into the top corner to give Hart absolutely no chance.
But that didn't stop Hart from literally screaming in anger when he concedes. Check out the 30-year-old's bizarre reaction below.
STERLING'S BANGER VS HART
Chill out, Joe, there was nothing you could do.
Hart will only hope the same doesn't happen when England host Slovenia at Wembley on Thursday, with Southgate's men looking to extend their unbeaten run in Group F.
