Liverpool expect their FA Cup third-round replay against Reading to go ahead on Wednesday night, despite further snow affecting the north-west.

Following the postponement of Sunday's home game with Tottenham because of the condition of roads surrounding Anfield, the club hired contractors to clear snow and ice from the vicinity of the stadium.

The Stanley Park and Anfield Road car parks have been cleared, as have some local roads. The local council has also gritted the area.

Light snow fell in Liverpool on Wednesday, but the game would only be in danger if there was a dramatic change in the situation.

A club spokesman said: "The Spurs game was correctly called off because of the condition of some roads around the ground.

"But the club has brought in JCBs to clear the car parks, and the council have also gritted the roads. We expect the game to go ahead."
