Earlier this summer, Isaiah Thomas was part of the super trade of the NBA offseason between the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers over Kyrie Irving.

Irving was traded to the Celtics by the Cavaliers in exchange for Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, the rights to the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round draft pick, as well as a 2020 second-round draft pick via the Miami Heat.

Initially, there were clear signs both Thomas and fans of the Celtics were unhappy to see the point guard go, as many believe he gave it all for his team before his injury caught up with him during the playoffs, only for the team to ship him away.

He previously admitted "it hurt a lot" when he found out he was leaving Boston, because he fell in love with the city, saying: "(I was) traded - just like that, without any warning - by the franchise that I scratched and clawed for, and bled for, and put my everything on the line for."

However, as time went on, both the fans and Thomas grew to accept the trade had been done, with Celtics fans thanking the 28-year-old for his services, while the man himself said he was looking forward to a new challenge with the Cavaliers after he recovers from his injury.

Those ill feelings may not have gone away though, especially if you look for the hidden meaning behind a photo of his new team's famous whiteboard which the point guard posted up on his Instagram story on Wednesday.

The whiteboard said: "Thought of the day.. 'Respect is earned, honesty is appreciated, trust is gained, loyalty is returned'." Thomas highlighted the 'loyalty is returned' part of the message and added a tagline saying "That way!!!"

Thomas averaged a career-high 28.9 points (third in the NBA), 5.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds last season, stat lines he will look to produce for the Cavaliers once he is healthy enough to play in order to not only help the team finish at the top of the Eastern Conference but also to make sure he gets a nice deal when he becomes a free agent next summer.
