England internationals are rubbish, aren’t they?

Despite being on the verge of qualifying for the Russian World Cup, there is very little excitement about the Three Lions right now.

And when you look at the starting line-up for England’s qualifier against Slovenia, it’s not difficult to see why many football fans prefer domestic football.

One of the biggest scapegoats in Gareth Southgate’s side is Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

Henderson hasn’t had the greatest start to the campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s side but was given a start by Southgate at Wembley.

While he was given a start, interestingly he wasn’t given the armband. That honour went to Harry Kane - despite Henderson being captain for Liverpool.

And Henderson did himself no favours of earning that armband on a permanent basis with a rather embarrassing moment in the first-half.

The midfielder picked up the ball on the edge of the box and attempted to shoot with his left foot.

The result?

Twitter reacts

Oh dear.

Of course, we can’t be too hard on Henderson because this whole England side aren’t particularly entertaining.

Despite that, they are set to qualify from their group with relative ease and, with the likes of Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Dele Allli in their squad, there is still hope they can achieve something next summer.
