Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has had a pretty frustrating season so far.
He started the campaign with Arsenal and had a pretty terrible afternoon as they were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool at the end of August.
Despite his poor performance at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp decided to spend £35 million on the midfielder before the end of the transfer window.
But Liverpool weren’t the only club interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain on deadline day. Chelsea also bid £40 million for him but he decided to join Klopp’s side due to his desire to play central midfield.
More than a month later and Oxlade-Chamberlain has started just one match at his new club - the Carabao Cup defeat to Leicester.
Although he has been restricted to substitute appearances, he was given a start for England against Slovenia at Wembley as they attempted to qualify for the Russia World Cup.
They did just that thanks to an injury-time winner from Harry Kane.
But the match was pretty terrible - and so too was Oxlade-Chamberlain’s display.
The 24-year-old was anonymous throughout and was replaced in the 64th minute by Jesse Lingard.
Booting the water bottles on the touchline.
He really wasn’t happy.
If Oxlade-Chamberlain was frustrated at being subbed, he better stay off social media for the next few days.
That’s because there were loads of English fans absolutely destroying him on Twitter.
Twitter reacts to Oxlade-Chamberlain's performance
Check out some of the reaction:
Interestingly, before the England match, Southgate suggested that he had picked some players in the squad that didn't deserve to be there. Many football fans thought Oxlade-Chamberlain was one of the players he was talking about.
"If you were to say, 'Am I entirely happy with the squad I've named?' then no, because we've got too many good players missing with injury," he said.
“The consequence of that is you could well argue there are one or two in the squad who haven't necessarily warranted it on their performances."
