Anthony Joshua is gearing up for his next challenge against Bulgarian fighter Kubrat Pulev, with just only three weeks remaining till the fight comes to fruition at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on October 28.

Ahead of the highly anticipated clash, the world heavyweight champion has admitted who would have been the ideal opponent, if he had to fight any former stars of the sport.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Joshua had no hesitation in admitting his admiration towards the former undisputed champion Evander Holyfield.

He believes the American icon stands out among his peers due to his dynamic skills inside the ring during his professional career which spanned 27 years.

Often respected by his opponents and adored by fans across the globe, Holyfield is regarded as one of the greatest warriors of the sport, deservedly earning him the nickname of ‘The Real Deal’.

“When your idols become your rivals! I think one of the greatest heavyweights is Holyfield," Joshua said, as per Boxing News and Views.

“He’s a real boss. I like him because he can box, get behind that jab and he’s a real good fighter on the inside. He can trade up close.”

Of all the past greats to dominate the heavyweight division, Joshua also explained why he would want to face Holyfield and tried to predict how the fight might transpire if his fantasy became a reality.

He added: “The reason is Holyfield will bring out the whole fighter in me. He won’t let me just keep it long and sleep off. He’ll come and slip shots.

“I just think it will be like a Riddick Bowe type of fight because I’ve got the height against Holyfield.”

Joshua will be putting his IBO, IBF and WBA [Super] titles on the line against Pulev later this month and is quietly confident of retaining his belts.
