People are still talking about Kurt Angle’s big announcement.
A few months ago, there has been speculation as to what his Angle’s announcement would be after WWE started this storyline with the WWE Hall of Famer and Raw commentator Corey Graves.
There was talk of several different things that could be revealed. Angle could have had an affair, or he was going to return to in-ring action.
Other theories include WWE bringing back Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, who has not been seen since WrestleMania 33 back in April when she took a bump off the apron and through a table, or former TNA President Dixie Carter making her debut on WWE television.
Instead of those things happening, WWE went outside of the box and did the unthinkable. Angle revealed that former SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jason Jordan of American Alpha was his illegitimate son.
This was a shocker for sure. When asked about it if the storyline will lead to his in-ring return.
If you really look at it, WWE gave their fans hints about this storyline over weeks on SmackDown Live building up to the announcement. The company was not doing much with American Alpha, and they had been working dark matches.
Then out of the blue, Chad Gable was working matches with top stars with Jordan nowhere to be seen.
Fans questioned why WWE didn’t pair Angle with Jordan’s old tag team partner, who is Gable instead. For those who don’t know, both guys share the Olympic wrestling pedigree and would have made more sense.
It turns out that there is a reason why WWE went with Jordan over Gable and during an interview with Fox Sports in Australia, Angle shared that Jordan needs the rub in terms of the entertainment aspect of his character:
“Gable reminds a lot of people of me. They’re both great talents, and the one who needed a bit more help and a bit of a rub was Jason. He is a little timid … but in the ring, he’s an animal. The entertainment factor — he might need a little more help. I think they made the right call because they both are going to be huge stars.”
