Ipswich have confirmed that winger Luciano Civelli is not expected to make a return from his knee injury this season.

The Argentinian picked up a serious knee ligament injury against Burnley last March and was hopeful of returning at Christmas.

But manager Roy Keane said: "Luca has gone back to Argentina for two months and I have written him off until pre-season. It has been tough for him. He`s had a few setbacks and is making slow progress but he`s had a serious injury."

He added: "He asked if he could go home and I`m comfortable with that. He`ll be using a clinic in Argentina and it will help him being home, not just physically but mentally as well."
