France reached the Euro 2016 final and look set to be one of the favourites at next summer's World Cup in Russia too, provided they get there.

Didier Deschamps' side came into the current international break top of Group A but, after Sweden thrashed Luxembourg 8-0, they needed a win to remain in control regarding qualification.

The star-studded French team travelled to Bulgaria on Saturday evening and made an excellent start when they went 1-0 up after just three minutes.

Antoine Griezmann's perfect touch in the box allowed Juventus' Blaise Matuidi to blast home from a tight angle, however Les Bleus were dealt a huge blow about half an hour later.

N'Golo Kante's game ended in premature fashion as a worrying injury forced the midfielder to come off in the 34th-minute and he was replaced by Paris Saint-Germain's Adrien Rabiot.

Kante gets injured on France duty

In the absence of Manchester United's Paul Pogba, it was Matuidi and Bayern Munich newboy Corentin Tolisso who lined up alongside Chelsea's 26-year-old in the middle of the park.

Chelsea fans react on Twitter

As you can imagine, it didn't take long for Chelsea fans to discover what had happened to Kante whilst on France duty, and they took to Twitter to share their opinions on the matter.

Chelsea travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League next Saturday before home games against Roma, Watford and Everton in three different competitions.

With summer signing Alvaro Morata, who's already scored seven goals this season, hobbling off injured in the loss to Manchester City, Blues fans will be desperately hoping Kante's setback isn't a long-term one.
