When Nike dropped their new kits at the back end of last season, a lot of fans were annoyed at the perceived blandness of the new designs.

It seemed as though the popular kit manufacturer had stripped back any flashy designs and in Chelsea's case especially, they had gone for a basic look.

Chelsea's home kit this season is a royal blue number with no trims to speak of. The only other colour on the shirt is the white and red that can be seen on the sponsors.

This is the first kit Nike have done for Chelsea after more than a decade with Adidas and it was donned the Nike 'Vapour' template.

It appears after one season, Nike have plans to redesign their Vapour set and Chelsea will be getting a new colour on their strip to boot.

According to Footy Headlines - who are almost never wrong about leaked kits - the colour red is set to feature more prominently on the new kit.

The socks will be mostly red - the same colour as the Yokohama Tyres logo emblazoned on the shirt - while the shirt and shorts are speculated to have red added in, but that is yet to be confirmed.

Footy headlines went on to say " Chelsea 18-19 home jersey will feature more unique and personalized designs," meaning their Nike kit shouldn't look like anyone else's.

Back to matters on the pitch: Antonio Conte has not been thinking about what kit his team will be wearing next season, unsurprisingly. He's recently been commenting on how much more difficult it is to retain a league title in England than anywhere else.

“We won the title with Juventus and I was expecting a really strong challenge from AC Milan, but instead they sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris St Germain, so they became weaker. It wasn’t simple second time, but it was easier. Here, from last season to this season, you have big teams and now they are bigger.

“I think last season we did a really great job, because we won the League against a really strong team, because Man City last season also was a fantastic team.

“And now after I think a great transfer market, they have improved a lot. It’s not simple to play this League. We have to try to do our best in every game with great ambition, because we must always have the right ambition. But at the same time sometimes you have to compliment your opponent. You must be honest and accept the result.”
