The NBA announced a major revamp of the 2018 All-Star Game recently which will see two captains select their teams from a pool of players voted in as starters and reserves.

There will not be an Eastern Conference vs Western Conference showdown for the first time in the history of the showpiece event.

The captains will be the top vote-getters from each conference and if it's a repeat of last year, it will be LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

This new playground-style format of selecting players has added an extra level of intrigue to the occasion as it will be interesting to see who picks who.

For Curry, however, the decision will not be a difficult one if he is voted as a captain as he already knows who he'll choose first.

"Probably one of my teammates," he said. "Until you run out of those options, then you gotta figure it out."

Who can blame the two-time MVP as he won a championship in dominant fashion alongside Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green last year.

If it's about winning, there shouldn't be a surprise that he wants to choose the players he wins with on a regular basis.

When asked who his first non-Warriors selection would be, however, Curry chose to keep his cards close to his chest.

"I don't know," he replied with a smile. "You don't go into a draft knowing who picked 9, 10, 11. You got to see how it all unfolds."

The All-Star Game has lost its appeal in recent years as players have chosen not to take it seriously and is short on intensity.

The league is hoping the new changes will bring a level of competitiveness to the contest.

For viewers, the choices the captains make and how this plays out is arguably more interesting than the game itself and there is potential for animosity to build between players if they feel they are not selected high enough by the captains.

But Curry doesn't believe that will be the case with him.

"If I'm the one picking, no," Curry said. "It's fun. It's a different type of setup and a different look, especially on the court. And you mix up the conferences and the different lineups you can get out there.

"There's been All-Stars for years, and the past six years probably certain lineups and notable guys that have been playing together in the Western Conference and the Eastern Conference, and now you can switch it up a little bit."

The All-Star Game will take place in Los Angeles this season on February 18.
