Louie Soares struck a late equaliser as Aldershot forced league leaders Rochdale to settle for a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at The Recreation Ground.
Soares fired home from close range with just three minutes remaining, just when it looked as though Chris Dagnall's 75th-minute strike would seal victory.
It was the visitors who had the better of the opening half, with their confident passing asking questions of a resolute Aldershot defence.
Dagnall twice troubled Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz with long-range efforts, and Chris O'Grady also went close with a 25-yard drive.
For the hosts, John Grant blazed an early effort over the bar, and Marlon Jackson poked wide after a scramble in the penalty area.
Aldershot were on the front foot to open the second half and three times in quick succession visiting keeper Tom Heaton was called into action, tipping Grant's fierce drive around the post with his most notable save.
But Rochdale gradually reasserted their superiority and took a deserved lead when Dagnall dinked over Jaimez-Ruiz after being released by O'Grady.
That looked set to send Rochdale eight points clear at the top - but Soares had other ideas.
