Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho spoke to the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Saturday's mouth-watering Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester United. The Red Devils are unbeaten in all competitions this season and are level on point with local rivals Manchester City at the top of the table.Meanwhile, Liverpool have won just one of their last seven fixtures in all competitions and lie 7th in the table. The miserly piled on when the club confirmed that star man Sadio Mane would miss the next six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury whilst away on international duty with Senegal.£35m signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has produced a string of terrible performances since joining from Arsenal but could be set for a starring role on the wing in Mane's absence.Klopp spoke pretty respectfully of his opponents in his Friday press conference but did take one little dig at Mourinho's style of football."Very often against us they have played pretty early long [balls]," Klopp told reporters. "They had always a target player last year - it was Ibrahimovic, now it's Lukaku."We need to be ready for this fight but they don't do this all the time."

Manchester United fan Adam Joseph tweeted his response, using facts.

Only Manchester City and Arsenal have played fewer long balls than Manchester United in the 2017/18 season.

The statistics, found on the official Premier League website, show that Liverpool also played more long balls than their arch rivals in the 2016/17 season too.

Louis van Gaal famously once handed out a dossier in a press conference after a journalist accused him of playing 'long ball football' at Manchester United.

Klopp feeling confident

Under pressure at Liverpool following a poor patch, Klopp believes his side have a great chance to get a positive result at Anfield.

“It’s a big, big, big, big opportunity," said Klopp. "Performances are not as bad as people think. We are not so weak we don’t have a chance against Manchester United.

“It’s our stadium, it’s Anfield, the first game with the Kenny Dalglish Stand and we want to use this power."

Anfield's Centenary Stand will officially become the Kenny Dalglish Stand on Friday in a ceremony that Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton are expected to attend.
