Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid is considered the NBA's king of social media due to his hilarious posts on the platform on a regular basis. One player who can certainly give Embiid a run for his money for this crown, however, is Miami Heat star Hassan Whiteside.Ironically, the two players have been embroiled in a 'beef' since last season and they took that onto the court with them last night as their teams faced off in a pre-season clash. The Sixers center began trolling Whiteside just minutes into the game after forcing him into his third foul.Embiid reacted by hilariously instructing the Heat bench to take their big out of the game and was heard uttering "he can't guard me" in the early stages of the first quarter.

Luckily for us, their battle on the court continued off it as they engaged in a brilliant Twitter war following their showdown.

The Sixers star didn't enjoy the best of games as he shot 1-of-7 from the field and put up just five points.

This led to a fan calling out Embiid on Twitter and ridiculing him for claiming Whiteside couldn't guard him as he only hit one field goal and urged him to respect the Heat man.

The Miami center replied to this by saying: "The media won’t show that."

The 28-year-old wasn't done there, though, as he took exception to Bleacher Report's post about Embiid asking for him to be taken out of the game.

"Funny how y’all don’t show me telling him the same and 1-7 shooting or the first 2 flops I mean blocks. Lol y’all fan boys I swear," he wrote.

As you would expect, his counterpart from Philadelphia had a response of his own.

The last tweet was a hilarious reference to Kevin Durant using a different Twitter account to defend himself over the summer.

Whiteside hit back with a tweet that hit Embiid where it hurt the most, being healthy enough to stay on the court.

The last action of the night belonged to the man from Cameroon as he did some research and tweeted out an interesting post in relation to the Heat man.

He then took to Instagram to post a picture of himself by using 'Whiteside' as the location and adding the caption: "Great way to end preseason with a win.. it’s about to get real now.. Thanks for all the love in Kansas.. My location is EXTREMELY ASS #TheProcess".

This exchange also led to some great reactions from others across social media.

For what it's worth, the 76ers won the game convincingly 119-105 but that definitely wasn't the talking point from this contest.

The two teams meet for the first time in the regular season on February 2 and if this Twitter battle is anything to go by, we are in for a treat and should buckle up and prepare for round two.
