Mesut Ozil has become a rather controversial figure at Arsenal of late. The German midfielder has divided opinion time and time again as he begins to look more and more uninterested in being at the Gunners.

Ozil was relegated to a watcher's brief for his sides trip to Vicarage Road where they faced a Watford side enjoying a fine start to the season.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the year and rumours surrounding a potential departure from North London have been gathering pace at quite a rate. He has not started a game for the Gunners since early September due to a knee injury and is yet to register so much as an assist thus far this season.

However, the thing that really seems to be getting up peoples noses is Ozil's body language when he does get a chance to play, as the patience of pundits and fans alike continues to wear dangerously thin.

His performance against Watford when summoned from the bench did little to ease the growing storm of criticism surrounding the German. Ozil was largely anonymous, missed a glorious chance to extend Arsenal's lead, and was painfully lethargic in recovery as Watford went on to score the winner late on.

Ozil has come under heavy fire from many fronts but no one has been as unimpressed with the former Real Madrid man as pundit Martin Keown.

The former defender has been one of Ozil's biggest critics and held nothing back when speaking on the midfielder while working the Watford game for BT Sport speaking particular about Ozil's glaring miss in the run up to the Watford equaliser.

"I don’t know whether there’s a future for him in this Arsenal team,’ he told BT Sport. ‘He should have killed the game off.

"The top players are ruthless and they don’t play for fun. That ball has got to be in the back of the net.

"He’s got to be clinical, does he care? It doesn’t look like it.

"He had an opportunity to wrap up proceedings and he didn’t take it."

Tough words from Keown but not far wrong. Ozil has looked an absolute shadow of the player that Arsenal signed for £42 million in the summer of 2013.

The German really does look like he has shut up shop.
