Joe Ledley could well sign a new contract with Cardiff by the end of the month, ending a host of speculation regarding his future.

Ledley told the Western Mail: "I spoke to the chairman (Peter Ridsdale) after the Bristol City match and I'll be getting in touch with my agent too."

Ridsdale said: "Joe has been an absolutely superb player for Cardiff City. The commitment and professionalism he has shown during his time here has always been exemplary. We are in discussions and are sincerely hoping we can get a new contract signed before the end of the month."

The Wales midfielder is out of contract in the summer and his 13-year spell at his hometown club appeared to hang in the balance with talks over a new deal having stalled.

The 22-year-old set to undergo a double hip operation that could rule him out for the rest of the season, both parties seem to have come to a breakthrough.
