Earlier today (Sun. October 15, 2017) Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate put on one of the greatest touchdown celebrations of all time - and former WWE Superstar turned Hollywood box office mega-star The Rock approved.

The Rock got his start back in 1996 in WWE, coming from a long line of professional wrestlers in his family, and would go on to have instant success as he won the Intercontinental Championship. He would then align himself with The Nation Of Domination, before joining The Corporation and winning his first WWE Championship. Over the years The Rock would solidify himself as one of the most iconic Superstars in WWE history, as his rivalries with Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H are legendary.

Around 2003 The Rock slowly began to faze out of the professional wrestling world, focusing more on an acting career in Hollywood. He wouldn't abandon the professional wrestling world altogether, however, as he still made sporadic appearances on WWE TV over the years.

In 2011 The Rock even returned to WWE to spark a two-year-long feud with the new face of WWE, John Cena. This led to a pair of back-to-back WrestleMania main events between the pair, which they split 1-1.

Since then The Rock has continued on to have an extremely successful career in film, landing starring roles in huge box office franchises such as Fast And Furious, as well as films such as Moana, Central Intelligence, Hercules, G.I. Joe, and so many more.

He has propelled himself into such a high tier of superstardom that he is the highest paid actor in Hollywood. His fame has seen so much success that Tate took it upon himself to pay some homage to "The Great One" by using his signature "People's Elbow" finisher in WWE as his touchdown celebration today.

Tate dropped The People's Elbow on the football and the video went viral on Twitter. The Rock saw this and responded to it, and gave his subtle stamp of approval for the move:

What are your thoughts on Tate using The People's Elbow to celebrate his touchdown over the Saints? Do you think NFL stars should use more WWE-inspired touchdown celebrations in the future? Or should they keep them to a minimum so that they appear more special? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
