Preston defender Neal Trotman has joined League One Huddersfield until the end of the season.

The centre-half spent the first half of the season on loan at Southampton and will aim to enjoy more regular first-team football with Lee Clark's promotion-chasing side.

The Lilywhites signed the highly rated 22-year-old in January 2008 from Oldham but the defender's progress at Deepdale has been hindered by injury.

The deal can be extended beyond the regular season should Huddersfield reach the play-offs.
