Cardiff striker Jay Bothroyd is "embarrassed" at the news that Swansea had enquired about him.
Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed that they had spoken to Bluebirds boss Dave Jones about the possibility of signing him but Cardiff's valuation of the player was too high.
Bothroyd told the club's official website: "You can kill that story off - I won't be going there. It's embarrassing. I'm happy at Cardiff."
Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale also confirmed: "On the basis that I have had no contact whatsoever with Swansea, I can only assume the call was made more out of mischief than with serious intent.
"However, to save them the trouble of making any more wasted calls, I can say that we have no intention of selling any of our players to Swansea."
