We now know what Manny Pacquiao has been up to as of late.

Pacquiao is one of the greatest boxers of all-time. That is a safe statement to say. He is the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing by winning eleven major world titles and being the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes. He is also first boxer in history to win major world titles in four of the original eight weight classes of boxing. Those classes include flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight.

He has been a superstar of the sport for many years as he has generated approximately 19.2 million in pay-per-view buys and $1.2 billion in revenue from his 23 PPV bouts. He was the second highest paid athlete in the world as of 2015.

President of Top Rank, Pacquiao’s promotional company, Todd DuBoef recently gave an update on the legendary fighter in a recent interview with Boxing News, “I think it’s wait and see. Right now he’s predominantly consumed with his job of being a politician and I think probably the best thing to do is wait and see what he wants to do and what his intention is and how he wants to proceed.

“Because now he’s an elected official, he’s there for the people, that’s his primarily role. We are sitting here. We wait for him to let us know what his intentions are and what he feels like doing and then we go from there.”

Away from boxing, he has a political career as well. In May 2010, Pacquiao was elected to the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress of the Philippines, representing the province of Sarangani. He was re-elected in 2013 to the 16th Congress of the Philippines. Fast forward to June of 2016, Pacquiao was elected as a senator and will serve a six-year term until 2022.

In July 2017 after his controversial defeat to Jeff Horn, Pacquiao said, "I love this sport and until the passion is gone, I will continue to fight for God, my family, my fans and my country. However, we still haven’t seen him back inside the ring.

“That fight came from abroad and it worked to well to introduce it on ESPN, it had four and a half million viewers,” DuBoef said. “It just goes to the theory you have to create a platform that has a big mega phone that this embedded audience is there and they want to see more and they want to interact with it and they want to talk about and that’s what we’re trying to do. To get the sport back into the headlines, back into the lexicon of the talk radio shows, the talk TV shows, the media writers, the chatter.”

“Horn’s not waiting for Pacquiao and Terence Crawford’s not waiting for Pacquiao. The welterweight division is a wonderful division, all these guys are wonderful athletes. They’re not going to wait on guys.

“If he wants to dedicate himself to the people in the Philippines, that’s what his duty is, that’s what he should do and if he wants to come back and have a fight in the fall or the spring, winter, whatever it is, obviously we love working with him and his team and facilitating his boxing career,” DuBoef concluded.
