The Rochdale promotion bandwagon continued apace against Cheltenham with a comfortable 4-1 victory inspired by hat-trick hero Chris O'Grady.

O'Grady opened the scoring after 18 minutes, drilling in a left foot shot from 18 yards before being gifted a second after 50 minutes when Robins keeper Scott Brown misjudged an Andy Haworth cross, palming the ball invitingly into his path six yards from goal.

Defender Craig Dawson then added a third after 56 minutes, bundling in a Tom Kennedy free-kick at the back post.

Robins defender Michael Townsend capped a fine individual display with an injury-time consolation goal before O'Grady raced through to score Rochdale's fourth.

Blackburn loanee Haworth, a last minute call up after Will Buckley was injured in the warm-up, failed to get on the scoresheet but made an impressive debut, hitting the post on 17 minutes after a jinking run.
