Multiple WWE Superstars asking Cody Rhodes for advice on leaving company

First McMahon Million Dollar Mania Winners Announced

The professional wrestling industry could be preparing to change right before our very eyes, and former WWE Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes could have started the movement.

Rhodes departed from WWE back in May of last year after being unhappy with his place in the company and wanting to see if he could become something greater on the independent circuit. Since his departure Rhodes has worked all over the world and has established himself as one of the biggest indie stars in the world.

He captured his first World Championship with Ring Of Honor (ROH), joined The Bullet Club, and has proclaimed himself the biggest draw in the industry. Over in WWE some Superstars seem to want to follow in Rhodes' footsteps.

Superstars such as Austin Aries have departed WWE, and rumor has it that Neville and Nia Jax have the same desires.

The word going around is that Nevill would like to establish himself as a bigger singles competitor by traveling the world and working everywhere, the same way Drew McIntyre did when he left WWE and came back to win the NXT Championship.

The situation appears to be greater than what we have been led to believe, however, as Joe Lanza of the VOW Flagship Podcast reports that several talents within WWE have contacted Rhodes for advice on potentially leaving WWE to pursue a career in the indies (quotes via IWNerd):

“[Cody] doesn’t have any plans on going to WWE anytime soon. There’s wrestlers in WWE going to him and getting advice on their own exit plans from the company.

"I know this for a fact. I can’t give you the names. I know that’s a bit of a d*ck tease [but] I can’t say the names but there’s wrestlers that go to him for advice on how to leave the company.”

What are your thoughts on several Superstars contacting Cody Rhodes for advice on possibly leaving WWE for a chance at having a successful career on the independent circuit? Do you think this has the potential to rival the WWE the way WCW used to back in the 90s? Or will WWE continue to maintain the biggest stars in the industry? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
