Arsenal can consider themselves lucky having snatched victory against Red Star Belgrade.Arsene Wenger may have named an under-strength starting eleven for their Group H tie, but with the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere all featuring, they were still expected to achieve an easy victory. For large periods of the game, The Gunners lacked any real creativity and they flattered to deceive against their Serbian opponents.Although nearly all of Arsenal's players were under-par, Theo Walcott in particular was the subject of much frustration from Gunners fans for an extremely poor first half display. However, the English side were given a lifeline when Milan Rodic was sent off for Red Star Belgrade after being given a very dubious second yellow. And Arsenal were able to capitalise on their fortuitous break, as Oliver Giroud scored the winner with just five minutes left of normal time.It was an extraordinary goal from the Frenchman, who adjusted his body brilliantly to acrobatically divert the ball into the top corner from ten yards out.You can view the goal here:

However, whereas Giroud would be given much of the credit for the goal, it would have not been possible had it not been for the brilliant build-up play by Jack Wilshere.

The English midfielder has struggled for form and fitness throughout his Arsenal career, and in the past three years he has only made seven competitive appearances for his current side.

But he was given the opportunity to play tonight, and he justified his selection with some brilliant creativity for Giroud's winner.

And many Arsenal fans took to twitter to praise Wilshere for the role he played in their winner.
